Hi Bader, that is strange since personally I wouldn't expect the metadata description to affect your work with the actual files. From that file-changing link, can you *delete* the weird file and *reupload* a better copy with a normal name? Maybe that will work better than renaming. Good luck!

Hm, for now the best solution may be just to add a fresh, good copy of the file to your item with the change-file link, and leave the weird one in there.

I don't find any "change-file link", please tell me where I can found it... It's not in the "edit metadata" and the change files links doesn't work as I've explained it!

I think I could have been unclear because as I told you repeatedly I can't access to the "Edit Item" tool. So it's impossible for me to edit any files...

bleah, you 'bricked' your own item just now.
fixed via restore.
try the "revert all files..." button on the /edit.php
page next time this happens -- looks to me like the initial "edit setup"
broke or the page didn't load properly so the item dir got trashed.
you'll need to make the intended changes over again now...

Sorry. Someone broke it again. What steps can be taken to prevent it from happening? I'm not sure what's gone wrong. For now I'll be uploading files for the person who has had the problem until we know the cause.

if you/they have problems, hit the button on the edit page
[Cancel all Changes, Delete Uploaded Files, and Revert Item]
and that will reset the editing version of the item to the live version.
guessing you/they are interrupting the setup or something...

PS: if you dont see the gray/undeletable _meta.xml and _files.xml files, at *least*, you know the edit version got botched, so Revert!

I'm afraid that won't work as we cannot access the editing page. We are taken to version of edit.php that has nothing other than the text "Item does not have metadata." And the problem only begins after finishing a set of uploads.
